Our Story

From the very beginning Club Ned has always been about a vibe, a feeling, an energy. It started as the nickname for a backyard oasis- a place where friends gathered to relax, share stories and laugh, catch some sun and cool off in the water. The vibe was always positive, and the guests (and host) always left with smiles and maybe even a more relaxed pace to their stride. That was the foundation. That was the energy that made Club Ned special.

Any worthy destination deserves a marquee, and one summer a sign was crafted by my son from some scrap wood. Rustic, yet bold and colorful, the sign became a major player in the festivities, serving as a photo prop for many friends. It also cemented the idea that Club Ned was real. It was no longer Ned’s House. It was simply Club Ned.

The world circumstances of the last several years have presented many challenges for all of us. It also provided an opportunity. The slamming shut of one door served as a launching point for reinvention. This circumstance is by no means unique here. But it is part of the story. A major part. Club Ned as a brand now became that opportunity.

The Club Ned think tank went to work. What is it that one does when the canvas is completely blank? Why not start with getting involved with what gets you stoked? That’s easy- the beach, graphic design, surf shops, clothing, cool things to wear. That’s where our mind ran.

We set out to create something fresh in the lifestyle beachwear world. For years we have scoured surf shops looking for that really cool t-shirt or hat, something that makes us think of the beach, the ocean, sunshine, fun, vacation. Sure, we would find those items occasionally, but most of them seemed to lack boldness and color. Screen print on the back, smaller screen print on the front pocket. Nope. Heavy cotton shirts that feel rough and are stiff like cardboard. No thanks. Boxy shirts that look good on the display rack but sit on your shoulders like a potato sack. Not for us.

We decided that the lifestyle beachwear world needed a unique premium brand. Rad hats. Soft shirts. Bold colors. Cool designs. Quality printing soft to the touch. Modern fitting shirts that flatter your physique. That became our mission. Fill a void and do it with boldness and quality every step of the way. Our way.
